On Friday 7th November 2014, the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy (ONDCP) conducted another successful counter narcotic interdiction where they seized over 50 kilos of cocaine in the McKinnons area.
The narcotics that has an estimated wholesale value of over EC$1.7 Million dollars, was seized from five men who were the occupants of a motor vehicle. Arrested were 3 Venezuelans, 1 Dominican Republican national who resides in Antigua and 1 Antiguan, whose ages range from 24 to 52 years. The men will be charged with the following offences: Possession, Possession with intent to Supply, Drug Trafficking as well as other related offences. Also assisting with the investigations is a 28 year old Dominican man.
Due to the significant quantity of the seized drug, the matter will be tried in the High Court, however; the men are expected to make their first appearance in the District ‘A’ Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
This recent success brings the total amount of cocaine seized by the ONDCP for 2014 alone, to over 540 kilos.
