On Sunday 15th June 2014 the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy seized over three (3) kilos of cocaine from a passenger who was scheduled to depart Antigua to the UK.
Christoph Blum of Germany has been charged with Possession; Possession with intent to Transfer; Being in Concern with the supply of Cocaine and Attempting to Export Cocaine. Also captured in the dragnet is a 60 year old Charles Samuel of Hatton, who has been charged with Possession of Cocaine and Being in concern with the supply of Cocaine. Both men are scheduled to appear in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, however; because of the quantity of the substance seized, the matter will be tried by indictment (in the High Court).
The estimated whole sale value of the seized items is EC $108,810.00 and the cost associated with 1 kilo of Cocaine in the UK is valued at approximately 5 times the local cost per kilo.
